Plastic Materials in Packaging -

A One Day Introductory Course – 8th November 2011

This course is intended to give delegates a greater appreciation and understanding,
of what you need to consider when working with plastic components
- whether they be actual product or packaging.

Plastics are a crucial component of many products and packs these days and their selection can have
a significant impact on a products performance, quality, cost, shelf life and even stability,
so it’s vital to make the correct selection.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

* Understand the relationship between polymer structure and its effect on the properties of common packaging thermoplastics.

* Appreciate where additives or coatings can be useful.

* Recognise the importance of knowing about material flow length to wall thickness ratios.

* Understand the current landscape regarding biodegradable polymers.

* Create a material requirements specification document taking all factors into consideration.

Please note that places are limited on this course to allow for lecturer interaction and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
