Barcoding & Mass Serialisation

Anti-Counterfeiting – Packaging Trends & Technologies

Counterfeiting of products and packaging is a multi-£billion business which is growing at an alarming rate. Everything from branded CD’s and handbags, through to pharmaceutical products are affected. The latter results in many thousands of deaths every year. But what can we do about it? Well there are many ways to tackle this but a strategic approach is required to stay ‘one step ahead’ of the counterfeiters. Blister Packaging – an in-depth appraisal

Blister packaging emerged in the 1960’s to aid patient compliance and grew exponentially in the 1980s to cater for Original Pack Dispensing and to reduce tampering, contamination & dispensing errors. It is now the common pack of choice for solid dose oral medicines in Europe. But there are a wide variety of types, materials, performance characteristics and related price points.
